"This footage provides an intimate view of several Vancouver Island black bears as they interact with a marking tree. This behavior, a form of communication known as scent marking, was captured during late September and early October. It occurs alongside their hyperphagia phase, coinciding with the concluding phase of the pink salmon spawn and the beginning of the chinook salmon spawn in this region."
