"My friends and I took an early morning boat ride out to a spot known as Devil's Peaks on the Alaska Peninsula. We set up our gear on a small gravel bar and waited for bears to arrive so we could film them on the shore across the channel. Rather than just walking along the shore, this bear swam over to come say hello to us.

Much of what people know of bears is urban legend, myth, or just plain wrong. To get close-up wildlife footage like this, a photographer has to set aside all the fear about bears and just enjoy the experience."
