"While on the Pacific Ocean Whale Watching in San Diego, this Sun Halo appeared as the clouds separated. Sun halos, also known as Sun Dogs, are generally considered rare and are formed by hexagonal ice crystals refracting light in the sky 22 degrees from the sun."
