"We have no idea how she figured it out, but our dog Katie has learned that rolling around on polyester fabric surfaces, such as this pet bed, will produce static electricity. Once she's built up a sufficient charge, she'll go to find something to zap with her nose. In this case, it's a metal bolt on our bed frame. Not only is the electric discharge audible, but it'll also produce a burst of light. In this video, you can see a back-to-back day and night version of her antics, with an accompanying dog-powered nighttime light show included. People often ask if we have a Pokémon instead of a dog or whether she's a genius. We just call her extra special."
