"I came upon this sweet seagull who just wanted a drink of water, but I noticed the spigot he was poking at was completely dry. I could tell he was lingering, almost waiting in hope, so I found another source and let the water run. It felt like he was testing me as he stepped forward, hesitated, then wandered back to where he started. I turned the spigot on again, and sure enough, he came back toward me! For a moment, we vibed in quiet understanding. Inside, I was so excited he sensed I was trying to help, and I felt his trust as he inched closer. When I pulled my hand away, he finally leaned in and took the sips he’d been waiting for."
